FAQ's High School Diploma Program

  • This is  High School Diploma Program.

    Graduates receive a High School Diploma from Lompoc Unified School District.

    Students who want to register to prepare for take a GED test must contact GED website

  • This is a Self-Paced program.

    Students choose their own graduation date and work to complete their credits before that date.

  • Yes. Students can do all of their credit work online.

  • Yes.

    • Every school year, students must come to campus to take a state-required reading test called CASAS.
    • Also, students take the CASAS again at least one other time during the school year.
    • Why? The state expects to see student test scores go up by at least three points during the year to show that students are developing skills aligned to College and Career Readiness Standards.

  • Yes. We review official transcripts from high schools and colleges from other countries to determine if the credits are eligible.

  • Students choose their graduation date and decide how fast they want to complete their credits.

  • No. Everything is free.

  • Through a local partnership, we offer a free home computer to all students who need one. 

    The computer becomes the personal property of the student.

  • Here are the steps all students follow for this program:

    1. Register for Academic Orientation
    2. Request Official Transcripts
    3. Attend a Zoom Meeting for Orientation
    4. Meet One-on-One via Zoom with the Teacher
    5. Complete a CASAS test in person (skills test required by our school's funding)
    6. Meet with Your Counselor by Zoom to review your goals
    7. Meet with the Academic Dean by Zoom to review your graduation requirements
    8. Final meeting with instructor by Zoom to begin courses
    • A CASAS test is a skill test required by our government funded programs for ALL diploma students every school year.
    • We will ask you to take one when you begin classes each school year and another after you have completed at least two academic classes.
    • The CASAS test measures how much students' skills improve during the year. This helps to bring money into the school so that our programs can be free.
    • The CASAS test is always in person. EVERYONE must take the CASAS test because our government funding does not allow exceptions.
  • High School Diploma students under 21 need 200 credits to graduate. Students 21 and older need 160 credits to graduate.

    Required Courses for High School Diploma include the following:

    *In addition to the requirements listed above, in order to graduate, all students must meet the state’s graduation requirements, which include Algebra 1.  Lompoc Unified School District Adopted: (6/97 7/99 5/11 5/16) 1/17)
     

    **Students may apply for five elective credits to be issued for every six months of full-time work experience - up to (forty) 40 credits maximum. Only official documents such as tax returns may be submitted to receive work experience credits.
